Scientists have been studying Torch Lake since the 1960’s.
More than 200 reports on Torch Lake are available at the Elk River Chain of Lakes Watershed Field Station located in the Antrim Conservation District office on Stover Road in Bellaire, Michigan.

Lake Night- The Torch Lake Coalition hosted an event on August 16, 2018 to share the latest research on Torch Lake. The Coalition consists of Three Lakes Association, Torch Lake Protection Alliance, Torch Conservation Center, The Watershed Center and Antrim Conservation District.

Torch Lake Water Quality Trends (1990–2017) – The Great Lakes Environmental Center in Traverse City compiled water quality trends for Torch Lake using data collected by Three Lakes Association volunteers and submitted to the Michigan Cooperative Lakes Monitoring Program (MiCLMP).
